Background

Bristol Cathedral Choral Foundation was founded in 1975 with the specific purpose of gathering and managing funds to secure the tradition of choral worship at Bristol Cathedral.

Through generous donations, legacies and grants from individuals, firms and charitable bodies, the Choral Foundation has raised a total, since inception, well in excess of £1 million, of which more than half has already been disbursed as chorister bursaries.

Fund Raising

In late 2007, the Choral Foundation initiated a Member Association called the Music Partnership.  Those in the community who have an interest in preserving the choral tradition or who like to attend the numerous musical events that are staged every year in Bristol Cathedral can join the Music Partnership for just £50 per annum.  The target membership for the Music Partnership is 1000 members by the end of 2012.

The Music Partnership

The Music Partnership is a member Association of Bristol Cathedral Choral Foundation. It has been founded jointly by The Lord Lieutenant of Bristol, Mrs Mary Prior MBE JP and by Sir George Martin. The benefits are:

  • preferred booking and seating for high demand concerts and events
  • timely information about the seasonal music and events programme
  • receipt of a seasonal music newsletter
  • opportunities to meet performers
  • opportunities to attend occasional receptions before, during, or after events
  • sharing the privilege of contributing to the tradition of cathedral music

 

The target membership of the Music Partnership is 1000 Members by 2012.  Subscription fees are just £50 p.a. per Member. Members of the Music Partnership are kept informed of wider cathedral developments and given priority in purchasing tickets for cathedral events and concerts that may benefit the Music Partnership.  Click here to read the latest issue of Treble Clef.
