Access for the disabled is limited as the building is on two levels with steps adjoining.
However, there is level access via the North Porch off College Green into the main body of the Cathedral and the Gift Shop, and a separate entrance from the Cloister Garth to the Chapter House.
It is possible to traverse the whole nave area and the transepts. In the South transept there is a long step, well marked, but access to the Cloisters from here is difficult and impossible for those in wheelchairs.
Eastern Lady Chapel
To see the Eastern Lady Chapel, go up the North Quire Aisle, behind the organ, where there are ramps. We do not advise that you go from the Eastern Lady Chapel into the South Quire Aisle as there are difficult steps and an uneven floor. There are steep steps into the Elder Lady Chapel and the Quire, although, with assistance, it is possible to visit the latter in a wheelchair.
The Cloister and the Chapter House
These cannot be easily reached from the Cathedral, but by going out the North Door, under the gateway to the West and along the road to the Cloister Court, you can remain on the level and reach the Cloister. There are however, steps here, and additional steps into the Chapter House. We therefore advise you to seek assistance.
Coffee shop and toilets
The Dean and Chapter regret that the coffee shop and toilets are all built on a series of steps and access for those in wheelchairs is impossible. There is a toilet for disabled people at the end of the Cloister. It is possible with care and assistance to reach the lower level of the garden.
